After I Died My Husband And Son Cried Chapter 01

The day my husband Gregory Langston sent to prison, my five-year-old son, Elliot Langston, handed me a bottle of weedkiller. "Mom, can you please die?" he asked.
"Dad said if you die, you'll go back to where you belong, and Ana can be my new mom."
My hand paused halfway to his cheek.
I looked into his clear, innocent eyes—and for some reason, a strange sense of relief washed over me.
I nodded, took the bottle, and drank every last drop.
After my death, I returned to my original world just as he'd wished. I thought I was done with that family forever.
But during my second year back, the System contacted me without warning. "Host, your target has become highly unstable. He's threatening to kill himself and his son in an attempt to breach the dimensional barrier and see you again.
"Will you go back one last time? In exchange, I'll cure your daughter's illness."
I lowered my gaze to the one-month-old baby girl in my arms and reluctantly agreed.
Once I got back, I played the part of Gregory's perfect wife.
I tracked down the contact info of every internet influencer he had ever shown interest in.
Since Elliot preferred Anastasia Flores, I simply had the legal paperwork prepared and transferred his custody to her.
Even when one of Gregory's mistresses deliberately provoked me by shattering the pendant that marked the beginning of our relationship, I just rested a hand on my assistant Vivienne's arm to hold her back.
"It's fine," I told her with a calm smile. "It's just an old pendant."
Gregory walked into the room right as I said it and stopped dead in his tracks.
He stared at me in disbelief, his face drained of all color. "Lucinda, I climbed a mountain to get you that amulet!"

"Get out. All of you!" Gregory ordered through clenched teeth.
The servants scrambled out of the room, desperate to escape his temper.
I turned to leave with them, but he grabbed my wrist. "Lucy, are you doing this because you're mad at me?"
I gave him a soft smile and gently pulled my hand free. "No. Don't overthink it."
Tears instantly welled up in his eyes, his voice shaking. "Lucy..."
He pulled me into the bedroom. Shrugging off his jacket, he pressed me down onto the sofa and kissed me. When he finally pulled back to speak, his voice was thick with distress. "Anastasia saved my life. She doesn't have any ulterior motives, and I've never seen her as anything more than a little sister.
"I shouldn't have accused you of pushing her into the water back then. You had just taken a hit for me, and I sent you to prison before you'd even recovered. I'm sorry.
"But I only meant to scare you with that bottle of weedkiller. I never thought you'd actually drink it."
I didn't resist him. "That's all in the past, Mr. Langston," I said evenly.
Gregory froze, his breath catching in his throat. "What did you just call me?"
I paused, only then realizing what had slipped out.
In the past, whether we were alone or in public, I had always called him "Greg."
He stared into my eyes, the panic in his expression slowly hardening into anger. "Lucinda, I've explained everything already. What more do you want from me?
"I never remarried after you left—don't you understand what that means?
"You're finally back. Why can't we just have a peaceful life together? How long are you going to keep this up?"
