I Expelled My Fake Family Chapter 01
On the very first day I went abroad to study, Mother brought the true heiress home.
In just two years, the true heiress successfully captured everyone's heart.
Until I returned, and Mother threw a severance of relationship agreement at me:
"Actually, I've always thought you were quite selfish. You only care about money, refusing to hand over the company's management rights, and unwilling to stay at home to be a good wife and mother."
"Fortunately, my biological daughter isn't such a vain person."
"Be sensible, hand over all the shares, and leave this house on your own."
She waited for me to break down in tears, begging her to let me stay.
Instead, I merely sighed and took out the paternity test report between me and Grandfather.
Mother, I am indeed not your biological daughter.
But I am the biological granddaughter of the true head of the Vance family.
The one who should leave the Vance family is you, not me.
...
The girl standing before me looked very much like Mother, Eleanor Vance.
During the two years I was abroad, she easily won the affection of everyone around her.
At this moment, my fiancé and my best friend were standing by her side.
Staring at me defensively, worried that I would throw a tantrum upon learning the truth and physically hurt Chloe Vance.
"Sister."
Chloe spoke softly:
"I never wanted to fight you for anything, but in the two years since I returned to the Vance family, I've heard a lot of things."
"I heard that you rely on the shares Grandfather gave you, taking huge annual dividends from the company, yet you never give Mother any money to spend.
Causing Mother to be mocked by the other ladies in her circle."
"I also heard that you refuse to let Julian Sterling manage the company, unwilling to be a proper full-time housewife, so you're always arguing with Julian."
"Even when your best friend, Samantha Hayes, begged you to invest in a project together, you refused."
She took a deep breath:
"I don't think this is right, Sister. You value money too much and are too cold to your family and friends."
"If it were me, I would never treat them like this. They are all far more important than superficial wealth."
"So," she bit her lip, "Sister, could you please give me back what's mine? I can't let you keep taking the money that should belong to me and continue hurting them."
As her voice faded, a dead silence fell over the living room.
Deep emotion surfaced on the faces of my fiancé, Julian, and my best friend, Samantha.
Mother, standing to the side, was practically wiping away tears.
"Did you hear that? After all these years, if you had even half of Chloe's thoughtfulness, we wouldn't have been pushed to this point by you."
Under everyone's intense gaze.
I sat down on the sofa and poured myself a cup of tea.
Only then did I look up, speaking unhurriedly:
"Mom, you grew up pampered by Grandfather. Even after having a child out of wedlock, you just threw me to the nanny to raise, living your whole life without a care in the world."
"Everything was fine, but those card-table sisters of yours kept instigating, pushing me to hand the shares over to you to manage, even though you know nothing about it."
"Can't you see they are driving a wedge between us?
I kept you away from them for your own good."
Mother's face flushed red with anger:
"They are genuinely looking out for me. I think you're the one who doesn't want me to do well."
"I'm telling you, in the two years since Chloe came back, she has been completely obedient to me. That's when I finally learned what a caring daughter is."
"And you? Besides making me angry and clinging to those shares for dear life, what else are you good for?"
I sighed.
I turned to look at my former best friend, Samantha.
The intimate smile we used to share as best friends was gone from her face, replaced only by blatant gloating.
"Olivia Vance, you're finally getting what you deserve."
"My dad had a project that only needed the Vance family's nod to succeed, but you stubbornly refused to agree and kept urging me to drop it."
She sneered: "You just never saw me as a real friend, afraid that I might actually make some money."
She turned to Chloe, her tone instantly softening:
"Chloe has already promised me that as soon as she gets the decision-making power in the company, she'll immediately partner with my family on that project. That is treating someone like a real friend."
"Samantha," I said calmly, "I had someone look into that project. The other company was flagged for business anomalies just last month, and their boss has debt disputes across multiple projects."
"I don't believe you're unaware of how huge the risks are."
A flash of guilt crossed Samantha's face.
But she quickly forced herself to regain composure:
"Stop talking nonsense. I think you just don't want to help me.
Being friends with you all these years has been the worst luck of my life!"
Seeing her anger, Chloe quickly stepped forward to hug her, comforting her softly: "Don't be mad, Samantha. Once I get the shares, I'll help you right away."
Watching their display of deep friendship, I smiled:
"You don't have to wait for the shares. You can sign the contract and join the partnership right now to share the risks of this project.
That way, once you get the shares from me later, you'll save a lot of time. How about it?"
