Last Seven Days To Leave You Chapter 01

Five years ago, a scandal rocked Seattle. Shania Patterson, a brilliant surgeon, was tricked by Cedric Garrett—the head of a powerful family—into becoming his mistress with a fake marriage certificate. Then she was brutally beaten and forced into a procedure to remove her uterus at his fiancée's command.
Cedric went crazy with rage. He drove his fiancée's family out of the city. Then he grabbed Shania's hand and stabbed himself three times, begging for her forgiveness.
He nearly died because of it, but in the end, she forgave him, and they even got legally married.
But on their fifth wedding anniversary, Shania walked into the Garrett's residence to find Cedric celebrating the fifth birthday of his illegitimate son, Ethan Garrett.
A huge cake stood in the center of the room.
Shania watched as Cedric held Ethan and helped him blow out the candles. Then he turned and kissed the woman beside him, Alicia Barnes, on the forehead. "You've raised our son alone for five years. That must've been hard."
"It wasn't. Being able to give you a child is already a blessing," Alicia said softly, her face flushed.
"But you should go. If you miss your anniversary, Ms. Patterson might get upset," she added.
"It's fine. There's still time." He smiled and stroked her face. Then he pointed at the pile of gifts. "Same as always—you pick first, she gets whatever's left."
Same as always... Whatever was left...
In that moment, the painful truth finally hit Shania.
For five years, Cedric had always spent Ethan's birthday first—then gone back to celebrate their anniversary with her.
"That doesn't feel right..." Alicia said quietly.
Someone nearby laughed. "Alicia, he already said it. What's there to worry about? Just go for it."
"Shania can't even have kids. Everything Ced owns is going to Ethan anyway."
"Exactly. Just wait a few more years, Alicia, and you might become Ced's lawful wife."
Cedric's face turned cold. He glared at them and snapped, "Shut up! Nia is my only wife—and she always will be."
Then he turned to Alicia, his voice softer. "My son can't stay hidden forever, Ali. In a few days, I'll find a suitable excuse to have Nia adopt him."
He glanced at the others, his tone sharp. "No one says a word about Ethan. Nia must never find out. Got it?"
Hearing this, Shania understood everything.
The anonymous message she had received earlier—saying that Cedric was celebrating his illegitimate son's birthday here—was probably sent by Alicia.
She was afraid Ethan would be taken away, so she made sure Shania came here to find out the truth for herself.
Shania looked at Cedric's smiling face and pressed her fingers into her palm.
Three years ago, in this very mansion, his fiancée had exposed the truth: the marriage certificate was fake, and Shania was nothing more than a mistress.
Then she had Shania beaten and dragged to a hospital for a hysterectomy.
When Cedric got Shania off the table, she was covered in blood, hovering on the brink of death.
After that, he broke off the engagement and drove his fiancée's family out of Seattle. But Shania was still afraid of him. She avoided him as much as she could.
When he couldn't win her back, he seized her hand and stabbed himself three times to prove his remorse.
Knowing that her infertility made her withdraw from his family, he even went so far as to get a vasectomy himself. He said that children didn't matter—that all he wanted was her.
The night they got married, fireworks lit up the harbor all night.
He held her tight, his voice shaking. "Nia, I finally married you. I swear I'll never hurt you again."
But now, looking back, Shania wondered whether those fireworks had been for them or for his son's arrival.
It didn't matter anymore. Because this marriage certificate was fake as well.
Shania looked at Ethan in Cedric's arms and let out a quiet breath.
Then she took out her phone and sent a message to Cedric's mother, Dorothy Garrett. "Mrs. Garrett, I'm leaving him. Don't forget what you promised me."
Back then, when Cedric stabbed himself to win her forgiveness, Shania was moved, but mostly terrified.
That day, as she waited outside the ER, sick with worry, Dorothy made her an offer.
"I've had enough of Ced's madness because of you. Stay with him for now, keep him calm," she said. "Do this for five years, and 15 million dollars plus ten percent of your family's shares will be yours."
Shania couldn't say no.
She had once been the rightful heir of her family. But her father cast her out of New York for his illegitimate daughter.
With that money and those shares, she could go back and take everything that should have been hers.
Still, she feared Cedric might lose it again, so she asked for a fake marriage certificate—just so she could leave anytime.
Over the past five years, his kindness and devotion had caused her to waver more than once.
There were times she almost told him the truth, almost chose to build a real life with him.
But now, as she looked at the "family of three" in front of her, her last shred of hesitation vanished.
Right then, her phone buzzed with a message from Dorothy. "Everything will be transferred to you within seven days."
Shania finally relaxed.
But just as she turned to leave, a shaky voice came from inside the room. "M-Mr. Garrett... Ms. Patterson... she's outside."
