Love Came Too Late Chapter 01
I saw a street interview posted by a blogger online.
“What do you wanna say to yourself from five years ago?”
In the video, Antonio Kaufman was holding his girlfriend Emily Bennett.
He answered it in a doting voice, “I wish Antonio from five years ago could’ve met Emily earlier.”
Emily looked shy, covering her mouth and echoing, “Meet too.”
The viewers all sent their best wishes to this young couple.
But no one knew that Antonio and I married exactly five years ago.
Even Antonio himself forgot about it.
A week later, that blogger uploaded another street interview online.
In the video, I looked straight at the camera, speaking seriously, “Grace Parrish, don’t marry Antonio, or you’ll regret it.”
And Antonio saw this video.
One afternoon, I called Antonio to talk about divorce.
Emily picked up and said, “Hello?”
“Is Antonio there?” I said straightforwardly.
“He’s having a shower. What do you wanna tell him? I can deliver the message for you.”
Emily’s voice was as sweet yet arrogant as ever, with a hint of provocation and showing off.
If it were in the past, I would yell at Emily, “Get the hell outta here and put Antonio on the phone!”
But now, I knew that only Emily could find Antonio.
So, I couldn’t make her hang up the phone like before.
I didn’t wanna be a mad woman anymore.
I told Emily calmly, “He said he wanted a divorce. I agreed.”
Emily remained silent for one second and then asked in disbelief, “You agreed to divorce him?”
“Yes.”
As soon as my word fell, I heard some noise from the other end.
I guessed Antonio had taken the phone from Emily.
Soon, Antonio’s deep and indifferent voice sounded.
“It’s me.”
I knew it.
The moment I heard his voice, my mind went blank for a few seconds.
After all, we hadn’t contacted each other since he moved out of the villa and went to live with Emily half a year ago.
The last thing Antonio said was, “Grace, let’s divorce. If you don’t agree, I’ll move out and file a lawsuit.”
Half a year had passed, and I finally compromised.
Not hearing anything from me, Antonio spoke up first, “Emily told me you agreed to the divorce?!”
I could tell Antonio was confused and he probably even furrowed his brow
But I didn’t get it, since he was the one who proposed the divorce.
Anyway, I didn’t wanna waste my time clearing this matter out.
responded lightly and told him, “If you have time, let’s meet and sign the divorce papers.”
With that, I hung up the phone.
This was my first time hanging up on him since I found him cheating on me.
I used to call Antonio all the time and send him countless messages every day.
I had cursed Antonio with the most vicious words and had cried out to beg him as well.
But every time, Antonio would get impatient and say, “You mad woman! Don’t freak out! We’ll talk when you calm down.”
Then, he’d just up the phone.
No matter how I called or texted him, Antonio wouldn’t respond.
I wanted to leave him, but the thought of ending things so badly just stopped me.
I asked Antonio why he betrayed me.
I begged him to come back, saying I’d forgive him.
But no matter what I said or did, Antonio remained indifferent to me.
I got more and more anxious about losing him, like a mad woman, as he said.
I had been living my life in a daze for a long time, suffering from the torment he brought to me in this relationship.
However, three days ago, I saw a video posted online by a blogger called “Time Capsule”.
It was a street interview, and the question was-“What do you wanna say to yourself from five years ago?”
Some people said that they wanted to study harder.
Others wanted more family time.
A few claimed they’d make it big and hit their goals.
There were various replies to that question.
Among those replies, I saw that of Antonio and Emily.
This made me believe the street interview was real.
After all, with Antonio’s status, even the most famous journalist would have to make an appointment to interview him.
This blogger really found his interviewees on the street randomly.
And Antonio was one of them.
At first, Antonio seemed like he didn’t want to be interviewed.
However, next to him, Emily looked full of interest and excitement.
“It sounds very interesting. Antonio, let’s give it a try.”
Emily said it in a sweet voice while holding Antonio’s arm.
In the end, Antonio sighed resignedly and agreed.
The blogger first briefly introduced himself and this interview. Then, he asked the two of them that question.
Emily began to ponder.
When Antonio saw this, he answered first, “I wish Antonio from five years ago could’ve met Emily earlier.”
In the video, Antonio was holding Emily in his arms.
Although his voice was cold, there was a clear hint of affection and tenderness towards Emily in his tone.
Hearing Antonio’s answer, Emily looked at him in surprise. Then, she blushed, covered her mouth with her hands, and echoed, “Meet too.”
