His Princess, His Betrayal, My New Life Chapter 01
As soon as Vivienne was reborn, she bolted for the airport.
Vivienne was gasping for breath as she pushed through the crowd, and she finally caught sight of those three familiar faces at the boarding gate.
Adrian was in a sharp tailored suit, and his icy, aristocratic vibe made him stick out like a sore thumb in the crowd. Five-year-old Ethan Holloway was in a tiny little suit, a total mini copy of his dad. And Celeste, in a white dress, stood gracefully beside them. They looked like the perfect little happy family.
"Adrian!" Vivienne’s voice rang out across the airport.
The three of them turned around at the same time.
"Vivienne?" Adrian’s brow pinched a little. "What are you doing here?"
Vivienne's gaze fell on Celeste. "Who is she? And where are you going?"
Celeste hurried forward to smooth things over. "Miss Ashcroft, you've misunderstood. Adrian and I are just friends, we’re just heading out on a family trip together. Adrian's parents, Victor and Margaret, are here too."
Adrian frowned, shielding Celeste behind him and glaring at Vivienne. "How the hell did you find out? Did you really bolt over here just to cause a scene?"
Her son Ethan shoved her right away. "Mom, quit ruining our family trip! You don’t get anything, you’re only good for sitting at home doing nothing!"
A cold chill shot through Vivienne. "If this is a family trip, why didn’t you bring me along? I’m your mom, his wife! If I don’t get to come, why the hell does she?!"
People around them were staring at them like they were crazy. Celeste’s eyes filled with tears right away.
Adrian and Ethan immediately felt sorry for her, and they both shot daggers at Vivienne. "Do you have no shame, making a scene in public like this?"
"That’s exactly why we didn’t want to bring you! You’re such an embarrassment!"
Ethan looked at Vivienne with disgust. "Aunt Celeste is gentler than you, prettier than you, better than you in every way... I’m so embarrassed to have a mom like you!"
Every word cut like a knife, straight into Vivienne’s heart.
In her past life, Vivienne was a total workhorse for the Holloways, wearing herself out nonstop for them.
She’d wake up before the sun even came up to press Adrian’s suit and tie, and stay up half the night going over Ethan’s homework. If Adrian’s parents so much as had a headache, she’d be right by their beds, bringing them water and medicine herself.
She slaved away for this family for fifty years, and to everyone here, she was nothing but a maid on call—they even thought her very existence was gross.
Seeing things get totally out of hand, Celeste quickly bought an extra ticket right then and there.
"Miss Ashcroft, please come with us. I’m so sorry, we didn’t stop to think about how you’d feel..."
On the plane, Adrian and Ethan waited on Celeste hand and foot the whole time. So much so that even the flight attendant thought they were a family.
Vivienne sat in the back row, staring out the window at the clouds, replaying what Adrian had said to her before she died in her past life. "I couldn’t stand seeing her stuck with all the housework drudgery, so I’m gonna make her my princess."
How absolutely ridiculous.
Vivienne was totally brushed off the entire three-day trip.
When it was time for the group photo, Vivienne didn’t want to make things weird, so she tried to jump in.
But Ethan shoved the camera right into her palm. "Mom, you don’t belong with us. You’re the one who should take the picture."
Vivienne lifted the camera in a daze. In the viewfinder, she saw Adrian with his arm slung around Celeste’s shoulder, Ethan cuddled up to her all sweet, and Victor and Margaret grinning like they were over the moon.
This exact same scene was in the photo that had driven her to her grave in her past life.
The second the shutter clicked, Vivienne’s hands shook so bad she could barely keep a grip on the camera. She bit down hard on her lip, barely holding back her tears.
On the way down the mountain, the three cars were all packed to the brim.
"Find your own way back home." Adrian hopped in the car without a second look, not even glancing her way.
Vivienne walked alone on the bumpy mountain trail, and the blazing sun was making her lightheaded. Her legs were so swollen up she could barely take a step.
In the end, she had to drag her worn-out self onto the last flight back home.
And from them? Not a single word of care, not an ounce of guilt. The second they opened their mouths, it was just to bark orders at her.
"Iron my clothes." Adrian tossed his suit jacket right at her feet.
"Clean up my toys." Ethan kicked the messy pile of toys right at her feet.
In that split second, all the grief and anger piling up inside her from two lives finally boiled over.
"Adrian, we’re getting a divorce!"
Her voice wasn’t loud, but it hit the living room like a thunderclap.
Adrian and Ethan froze at the same time, their freaky identical handsome faces totally stunned.
"Do you have the slightest idea what you’re saying?" Adrian’s voice was cold as ice.
"I know exactly what I’m saying." Vivienne lifted her head, looking him straight in the eye. "I want a divorce!"
They thought she was just playing hard to get, so they let out a cold laugh and called their lawyer.
"Regretting it now, are you?"
Ethan looked at her with disgust, his young face filled with a coldness that didn't match his age.
"It’s not too late to back down. Apologize to us right now, and Dad and I will act like we never heard a word of this."
But Vivienne just smiled, picked up the pen, and signed her name on the divorce papers without a second thought.
This time, in this life, she was done with all of them.
