The Day I Stopped Begging Him Chapter 01
Seven months pregnant, I was thrown into a pigpen by Jasper Lennox, my husband.
He even ordered his men to strike my lower abdomen—just to cheer up his sulking first love, Winona Kingsley, so she would agree to come back.
Once, when she offended a client, Jasper had forced me to drink alcohol and beg for forgiveness on her behalf, while he cradled her frostbitten toes in his hands and asked gently whether she was cold.
Now, as blood streamed down between my legs, I begged him to take me to the hospital. Yet he remained indifferent.
"Cassandra, you've been spoiled rotten. It's just a miscarriage. Stop using blood packs to get my attention.
"Don't forget—if you hadn't forced me into marrying you, I wouldn't have been separated from Winnie for so long. Everything happening to you now? You had it coming!"
Devastated, I smiled as if it no longer mattered and calmly dialed a number.
"Mom, I'm getting a divorce. Please come pick me up."

When I was seven months pregnant, Jasper threw me into a pigpen, all to cheer up his sulking first love so she would come back.
Blood poured from between my legs as I grabbed his sleeve with trembling hands.
"Jasper, are you insane? I'm carrying your baby..."
His expression remained cold, as if I weren't his wife but a disposable toy.
Tears slid down the corners of my eyes as I clung to the hope that he might soften.
Just last week, he had celebrated my birthday, holding me on his lap and gently stroking my belly.
"Cassie, take good care of yourself," he had said softly. "Once the baby is born, I'll treat both of you well for the rest of my life."
He had promised to make me and our child the happiest people on earth.
But now, his large hand clamped around my chin, his voice low and icy.
"If you hadn't forced me into marrying you back then, Winnie wouldn't have gone abroad in a fit of pique.
"She's not in good health right now. If I don't do this, I'm afraid she'll do something stupid in a moment of rage.
"You've been with me for so many years. I've given you money, status, and a baby. That's more than enough."
He scolded me, warning me not to overestimate my importance just because he had shown me a little favor.
The shrill squeals of piglets pierced the air, mixed with the sour, rotten stench.
I covered my mouth, gagging, but nothing came up—only bile.
Jasper shoved me aside with disgust. "Don't blame me, Cassandra.
"I won't let you out unless Winnie agrees to come back."
Tears blurred my vision until his face became indistinct.
I tried to convince myself that the man standing before me wasn't the one I had loved for seven years. But the familiar scent of tobacco and the silver ring on his finger mercilessly reminded me otherwise.
My husband was trying to murder his own wife and unborn child for another woman.
