No Longer Love You Chapter 01
I loved my husband Harrison Sterling so deeply.
This love chipped away at my sense of self bit by bit. I dared not say anything that might upset Harrison, nor do anything he disliked.
Even when I discovered Harrison was having an affair, I could only endure it.
But one day, I found my son, whom I'd raised with all my heart, sneering at me for Harrison's mistress;
and Harrison merely watched coldly as I suffered.
I finally woke up.
Yet after the divorce, they clutched my hands:
"Eleanor, I regret it."
"Mommy, don't leave me. I beg you."
......
On an ordinary day, I asked my husband for a divorce.
I didn't even want my child.
When I brought it up, no one believed me.
Not even my husband, Harrison Sterling.
"What kind of scene are you making now?"
Harrison didn't even look up.
The only reaction was that he forgot to flick the ash from his cigarette.
"I said, I want a divorce."
Harrison frowned, checked his watch, and gave an irrelevant answer:
"Julian gets out of school in seventeen minutes."
I knew he was using our son to pressure me.
But he didn't know that yesterday, at the dinner, his eight-year-old son Julian watched as I picked out the green onions he hated, just as I always did.
Suddenly, he looked up at me and said:
"Mom, I really look down on you."
I froze on the spot, my fork clattering to the floor.
But Julian seemed deaf to the noise and just continued:
"Everyone says you're a doormat. Even Grandma looks down on you."
"But honestly, you really aren't as fun as the aunties Dad brings home."
As soon as the words left his mouth, the entire Sterling family covered their mouths and snickered.
I was the only one who couldn't stop the tears.
Julian saw my humiliation, but he just frowned and said:
"Mom, stop acting like I'm bullying you all the time."
"You cry like a baby over everything. Don't you know how embarrassing that is?"
In a daze, I seemed to see his father's shadow in the son I had raised for eight years.
Just then, Harrison walked in with his female companion for the day's gathering.
The woman was the popular starlet, Isabella Thorne.
Only then did Harrison's mom speak up to smooth things over:
"Alright, Julian is still young. You're his mother—surely you're not going to hold a grudge against your own son?"
The others present also started chiming in:
"Yeah, Julian's just a child speaking his mind. Don't take it so seriously."
"Besides, everyone in Harbor City knows your reputation. Julian is just copying what he hears; you can't blame him."
I just watched quietly as Julian, who had been looking at me with such impatience moments ago, suddenly beamed with joy and ran straight toward Harrison and Isabella.
He hugged Isabella's right arm and shook it affectionately.
Isabella giggled and produced a gift from behind her back—a paper kite.
The way Julian instantly lit up suggested this wasn't his first time meeting Isabella.
It turned out they already had their little secrets.
Harrison felt my gaze and glanced back at me, looking right through me as if I weren't there.
He probably assumed the tears on my face were just my usual breakdown after being made into a laughingstock.
After all, he was long used to it.
But this time, the one treating me like a joke wasn't some stranger.
It was the son I had carried for ten months, risked my life to birth, and raised for eight years.
