Love Faded So Did I Chapter 01

After I lost the baby, my husband, a psychiatrist, wiped my memory through hypnosis, just so he could take a depressed patient on a healing journey.
For the next three months, he and our son traveled everywhere with her.
After they were done having fun, he finally helped restore my memories.
I returned to my roles as wife and mother.
Except now, I no longer cared for my husband and son—no longer the nagging woman they used to complain about.
They didn't bother fixing anything, convinced I was only acting out for attention and playing hard to get.
Then they saw the post I had published.
"Help! My memories are back, but my feelings aren't!
"I can't connect with my past self. Being around my husband and son feels tense and awkward. What am I supposed to do?"

I was sleeping soundly under the covers when the light snapped on, flooding my vision with a blurred, hazy glare.
Startled, I snapped my eyes open to see a tall, imposing figure standing by the door.
His handsome face, framed by silver-rimmed glasses, was cold.
I blinked and realized it was just my husband, Rafael Holden.
His voice was steady, devoid of any emotion. "Why are you sleeping in the guest room?"
I sat up, wrapping the blanket around myself, and gave a strained chuckle. "I've only just regained my memory, and everything feels a little foreign.
"Why don't we sleep apart for a few days? I need some time to settle in."
He nodded, as if it didn't matter to him. "Suit yourself."
Then, as if in passing, he added, "You didn't call me today."
I was puzzled. "Call you? Why would I? I didn't need you today."
The air around him chilled instantly.
"You used to blow up my phone if I stayed out past ten."
Remembering my past behavior, I felt so embarrassed. "Sorry. I won't do it again."
Those memories were so embarrassing. I couldn't believe how crazy I used to be.
I was hypnotized and forced to forget everything—all because I had called Rafael's patient, Sandra Jensen, at midnight.
I called her a shameless, horny bitch, accusing her of faking depression to seduce Rafael.
As Sandra cried hysterically, Rafael took her phone and told me he'd be right back, his voice still calm.
I was satisfied, thinking I had finally gotten rid of the would-be homewrecker.
But when Rafael came back, he told me, "I'm taking Sandy to live in the forest for three months. Connecting with nature is essential for her therapy."
Our son, Joe Holden, happily chimed in beside him, "Take me with you!
"Sandy gave me candy last time. I want to go keep her company, too."
I was incredulous. "What about our anniversary trip? I've been planning it for two weeks. We agreed to go once Joe's break started."
"We're not going," Rafael said. "Sandy's condition is severe, and I must stay by her side for her treatment."
"I want to go play in the mountains," Joe said. "I don't want to go on a boring trip with Mom. I like Sandy more."
I refused, of course, descending into a hysterical rage.
Rafael shoved me aside with impatience. And Joe slammed his head into me to push me away.
A sharp pain shot through me, and bright red blood gushed out. I lost the baby I had conceived after trying for half a year.
Afraid I'd cause trouble, Rafael used an experimental, untested hypnosis technique on me. He erased my memories and left me at the hospital.
Now, I kept promising that I would never call or bother him again over trivial things. Rafael's expression grew increasingly grim.
After a long pause, he said coolly and with certainty, "Breanna, you're throwing a tantrum."
With that, he turned and added, "Make whatever fuss you want. Just don't forget to tidy up my study."
I started to say something, but thought better of it. Instead, I pulled out my phone and began scrolling for a suitable nanny, yawning as I did so.
I couldn't do it. I honestly didn't have it in me to care anymore.
I admired my past self.
I used to wake up at six every morning to meticulously prepare breakfast for Joe, careful of his many allergies, and then make another breakfast at seven for Rafael, mindful of his sensitive stomach.
After scarfing down something for myself, I'd start cleaning the entire house. Rafael was a neat freak who couldn't tolerate a speck of dirt or disorder. His study, in particular, had to be spotless and perfectly organized.
Today, trying to do exactly what I used to do, I almost collapsed from exhaustion.
While tidying Rafael's study, I ended up stuffing the documents in without any order. That was likely the very reason he chose to remind me.
I drifted off to sleep.
But just a few minutes later, a violent pounding on the door jolted me awake.
