Bitter Love: My Husband Betrayed Me With My Best Friend Chapter 01
After giving my boyfriend the silent treatment for a whole month, my bestie invited us to a concert.
He sat to my left, and my bestie sat to my right.
When the show hit its peak, the big screen started randomly scanning couples in the crowd.
Then suddenly, the camera locked onto the three of us.
Carter smiled and waved at the camera, then, right over me, kissed my bestie.
Her cheeks flushed red as she glanced at me nervously.
“Carter’s just messing with you. Don’t take it to heart…”
He shot me a quick look.
“She and I are done. I’ll kiss whoever I want.”
A flicker of surprise crossed my bestie’s face, but she didn’t dare show it.
“You’re so annoying! No way! You’re Olivia’s...I’m not about to fight you for him!”
Watching them flirt like no one else was around, I suddenly felt like this whole concert was a total waste.
Bella wiped the spit off her lips and asked innocently,
“Olivia, you’re not mad at us, right?”
“Carter’s just being a brat. I’ll give him a good talking-to when we get home!”
“Don’t take it too seriously. He’s just joking around~”
I forced a smile. “No, why would I be mad?”
At that, Carter popped open a bottle of orange soda and casually handed it my way.
I reached out without thinking, my fingers just about to touch the bottle.
Bella bumped me with her shoulder and snatched the soda away in a flash.
“Olivia, didn’t you say you don’t drink soda?”
“Don’t waste it, let me help you finish it!”
I opened my mouth to say something.
But Bella had already tilted her head back and taken a sip, smacking her lips with satisfaction.
She turned and handed the bottle to Carter, her voice excited:
“Carter, you gotta try this! It tastes so different, way better than the last one we bought!”
Carter smiled and took the bottle, sipping it quietly.
I said nothing, pulling my hand back from mid-air, my fingertips white from gripping tight.
It’s not that I don’t drink soda. I just know Carter’s stomach is way too sensitive.
He gets sick if he drinks too much soda.
Every time I open a bottle, he always grabs it from me.
I never argued because it happened so often that I just stopped touching those drinks altogether.
I didn’t want to see him clutching his stomach, wincing in pain anymore.
But now, watching him hold the soda Bella gave him, looking so doting,
I suddenly realized that the things I gave up for Carter?
They didn’t mean a damn thing to him.
Every second of the concert dragged on like forever.
Bella and Carter’s occasional whispers and giggles made me feel like I was sitting on a bed of nails.
Finally, the last song was about to end, and I was already on my feet, ready to bail.
But then the host’s voice cut through the noise:
“Next up, the most exciting part of the night. Our big raffle draw!”
Suddenly, all the lights went out, plunging the place into total darkness.
A few seconds later, a spotlight snapped on, shining right on Carter.
“Let’s give it up for our lucky winner!”
Amid the crowd’s cheers, Carter grabbed the prize.
It was a signed photo of my favorite singer.
The same singer Carter used to get jealous over and throw fits about.
But every time a new album dropped, Carter would obediently buy it and give it to me.
At home, there’s a whole cabinet packed with all the albums he’s gifted me over the years.
I was about to reach for the signed photo in Carter’s hand.
But he didn’t even glance my way. He handed it straight to Bella.
Bella jumped up, grinning like crazy, and threw herself into his arms.
They hugged tight, looking so perfect together that the spotlight stayed glued on them.
I turned and walked away, the noise in the arena fading like a receding tide.
All that was left was the ache twisting in my chest.
Bella came running after me, grabbing my wrist from behind.
“Olivia, you’re totally misunderstanding,” she said, pretending to be worried.
“Carter and I aren’t what you think!”
