Guess Who Is The Real Wife? Chapter 01

This was the first time I had to deal with Kieran’s infidelity—and the last, too.
She shoved the paper back at me. Feigning composure, she opened her purse, produced a marriage certificate of her own, and slid it toward me. “Ms. Palmer, did you really think I’d come here unprepared?”
I picked it up from the table and looked it over carefully.
As my eyes locked on the registration date, my hands also started trembling.
May 20, 2021—the exact same day I married him.
My heart was torn in two, and it hurt to even breathe.
“Did you forge this to cover your tracks?” Lilian asked, clinging desperately to the role of the legitimate wife.
I looked her dead in the eye. “Why don’t you go ask your husband? Better yet, let’s get him here and discuss it together.”
Chapter 1
Lilian Nash froze.
Though she refused to believe it, she snatched the document.
As she scanned the registration details, the color drained from her face.
Her hands started to shake.
I watched her, appearing calm but feeling equally shocked.

Lilian bristled at my attitude, certain I was provoking her.
“Kier is busy. I’m not going to have him wasting time on nonsense, and I’m certainly not letting you manipulate me into losing faith in him.”
She was spiraling, talking fast to convince herself. “Men are all the same. They all stray eventually.
“Especially men with his money and power. Sometimes they just want a taste of the trash out there.”
She lingered on the word trash.
“I came here as a courtesy. Keep bugging my husband, and I won’t be so polite next time.”
She delivered the warning with hard eyes, waiting for me to apologize and fold.
I let out a hollow laugh. “Ms. Nash, has it ever occurred to you that you might be the ‘trash’?
“We’re both victims here. We shouldn’t be fighting each other. Kieran did this.
“He owes us an explanation, not the other way around.”
She smirked like I was delusional.
“Still thinking you’re the wife? Fine. Watch this.”
She pulled out her phone and played a video.
It showed Kieran’s family celebrating his fifth wedding anniversary with Lilian.
I knew everyone in the video, except a three-year-old boy.
But he called Kieran “Daddy” and Lilian “Mommy.”
Kieran’s mom placed a necklace worth 3 million dollars around Lilian’s neck and said affectionately, “Lili, I’m truly lucky to have you as my daughter-in-law.”
Kieran’s brother smiled and said, “Lili, I couldn’t ask for a better sister-in-law.”
My blood froze in my veins, my heart aching.
So it wasn’t just Kieran. Everyone knew. They had all supported his double life and played me for a fool.
Even now that the truth was out, Kieran showed no guilt or panic. He was only worried I would hurt Lilian.
I never imagined the husband who catered to my every whim would cheat on me from the start.
It felt like a sudden drop, a hard impact with no cushion.
Lilian put her phone away and stared at me with confidence. “Are you still gonna cling on to Kier?”
I fought back tears and shook my head, managing a bitter smile.
“No. But I need to show you something.”
I turned my phone around and showed her the messages Kieran had just sent me.
“She has a strong moral compass. If she finds out she’s the mistress, she’ll fall apart.”
“I’ll make it up to you, but for now, just play along.”
Lilian’s face crumpled. Tears of rage welled up in her eyes.
She dialed Kieran immediately. “Tell me who the mistress really is! Kieran, you asshole! Get over here right now and fix this mess!”
She hung up before he could respond.
She was imperious; clearly, Kieran was used to indulging her.
Kieran and I were childhood sweethearts—together ten years, married for five—yet I had never spoken to him that harshly, no matter how angry I was.
“My apologies,” she said, her voice softening. “I didn’t know Kieran had lied to you. Sorry for lashing out at you just now.”
As she spoke, she wiped her tears with a silk scarf.
Anger flared through me as I stared at the fabric in her hand. It was my mother’s final design before she passed away.
Someone had once offered 8 million dollars for the design rights, but I refused.
I had kept it locked away in the most secure spot in my closet, treasuring it above everything else.
It was my last connection to her; whenever I missed her, I would take it out and sniff it.
My hands shaking, I snatched the scarf from Lilian. “This is my mother’s legacy,” I snapped, glaring at her. “How did you get it?!”
She looked startled. “Kieran bought it for me. He paid 3 million dollars.”
Suddenly, she looked past me, her expression hardening. “Kieran! You need to explain yourself right now!”
The tension in the room spiked.
Kieran walked in and saw the two marriage certificates on the table.
Without even glancing my way, he pulled Lilian into a nervous, desperate embrace. “I’m sorry, honey. I wasn’t thinking straight.”
Watching the man who used to whisper promises to me call another woman his honey, I felt like a complete joke.
“If she’s your honey, then who am I?”
The laugh ripped out of my throat, turning into a sob. I roughly wiped the tears from my face.
As Lilian pushed Kieran away, I stepped up and slapped him with all my strength.
Kieran looked at me with pleading eyes, silently begging me not to play along.
“Kristina, I’m sorry. I lied to you. Lili is my wife.”
I gave a bitter laugh and dialed my phone right in front of him. “Police? I’d like to report a forged marriage certificate…”
Kieran snatched the phone from my hand and hung up.
“Stop this! Didn’t I say I’d make it up to you?” he snapped with a frown.
Lilian looked panicked. Not wanting the situation to blow up and damage Kieran’s reputation, she tried to talk me down. “Ms. Palmer, I know it’s all Kier’s fault. We’re willing to compensate you.”
