Marry My Scumbag Ex’s Uncle Chapter 01
In my previous life, I was killed by my husband, Samuel Tucker, on my twentieth birthday.
He was the Tucker family’s golden boy, a rising star in the military—despite his youth.
I ended up as his partner because of the crescent-shaped mark on my collarbone, a mark that gave me flashes of danger.
Once, during an overseas operation, that mark went ice-cold.
I acted on instinct, firing a warning shot that threw Samuel off his path just as he was about to step into an ambush.
It worked. But the rest of the team wasn’t so lucky. They were exposed to a new experimental poison. Three days later, they were all dead, their bodies breaking down in the most horrific way.
Bennett Tucker, Samuel’s grandfather, was so grateful that he not only arranged for me to marry Samuel but also promised that any child I had would inherit the entire Tucker family’s fortune.
But when I was in labor, Samuel coldly commanded his men to prevent the child from being born.
“Sera is one of the leading experts in biological research. She could have synthesized the antidote to save me. But you just had to intervene.
“Your reckless ambition drove her to her death! She plunged into the fire with my unborn child!”
I was bleeding out, but they cut off my limbs and threw me to the alligators.
“You can sense danger, right? Then predict if you’ll survive this!”
The alligators tore me apart. The water ran red with my blood.
When I opened my eyes, I found myself back on the day of Samuel’s ambush.
Every eye in the room was on me. My heart hammered. I had to play my part.
“I tried to get Commander Tucker out. I failed.
“I accept full responsibility, Sir Tucker.”

Bennett’s face was thunderous, his eyes burning with rage. Clearly, he intended to punish me, his future granddaughter-in-law.
Samuel struggled to sit up, coughing from the chemical agent.
“Grandpa, don’t blame her,” he said, his voice rough.
“Her family is our ally. Punishing her for this would hurt our reputation.”
His eyes flickered to me, unreadable. Then he reached out and gripped the hand of the woman beside him.
“Luckily… Sera suspected a trap and gave me a preliminary antidote before the mission. Besides, my exposure was minimal, so my life isn’t in danger.
“Give her some time—she’ll crack it.”
Bennett finally noticed Seraphina Sterling standing there, her eyes red with concern.
“A top researcher indeed! Sharp,” Bennett said, his tone softening. “Sam owes you his life.
“Since you two are so close, why not just get engaged? You deserve it.”
The officers murmured their approval. Samuel and Seraphina shared a delighted glance.
Relieved, I started to edge back, hoping to fade into the background.
Samuel’s eyes narrowed. Without warning, his hand shot out and clamped around my wrist.
“Grandpa, Penelope meant well, even if she was useless. Why not let her join our family? As my second wife.”
My blood ran cold.
His second wife? No—he meant a mistress shrouded in shame.
He seemed obsessed with Seraphina. So why drag me into this?
I clenched my fists, nails digging into my palms, and forced a calm tone. “Thank you, Commander Tucker, but I don’t deserve the honor.”
My father stepped forward instantly, his voice firm. “Sir Tucker, my daughter has failed in her duty. That alone is shameful. She isn’t worthy of Commander Tucker.”
Bennett seemed to recall that I wasn’t just some nobody to be trampled on—I was a Powell.
He frowned, waving a dismissive hand. “Sam, don’t be absurd. Penny is the heiress of the Powell family. This is inappropriate.
“Don’t ever bring this up again.”
Samuel looked ready to argue, but a sharp look from his grandfather silenced him, his face gloomy.
With the hallucinogen residue detected, the team was unsettled, forcing an early end to the mission debrief.
I was heading for the door to leave when Samuel stopped me.
“Sera, wait in the car. I need a word with Penelope.”
Seraphina bit her lip, reluctantly let go of his arm, and shot me a sharp glare before leaving.
Once she was gone, Samuel closed the distance, his hand snapping out to grab my wrist with a crushing grip.
“Penelope, you are reborn too, don’t you?” His voice was a low, venomous whisper.
