Insidious: Chapter 4 Caps Off Casting Spree With Four New Additions
'Insidious: Chapter 4' Moves to January 2018
Deadline brings word today that Kirk Acevedo (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Bruce Davison (The Lords of Salem), Spencer Locke (Resident Evil: Extinction), and Caitlin Gerard have become the last-minute casting additions to Universal and Blumhouse’s horror sequel, Insidious: Chapter 4.
Character details for that new quartet are being kept firmly under lock and key and safely stowed away in The Further for now, but we know that Chapter 4 is booked in to arrive on October 20 of 2017. It’ll be helmed by director Adam Robitel – a newcomer to Blumhouse’s low-budget, high-profit series – with a script from franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell.
Fans of the “Insidious” franchise will have to wait a little longer for the next installment in the supernatural horror series.
Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures said they will push back “Insidious: Chapter 4” from its original Oct. 20, 2017 release date and slotting in “Half to Death” in its place. The new “Insidious” will instead hit theaters on January 5, 2018. Both films come from Blumhouse, the producer of “The Purge” and “Get Out,” two low-budget horror smashes.
“Insidious: Chapter 4” will have the new release date entirely to itself. There are no wide releases scheduled to debut that weekend. “Insidious: Chapter 4” brings back Lin Shaye as Dr. Elise Rainier, a parapsychologist looking into the haunting of her own family home.
