Macela Alves Leite, 19, was brutally murdered in the early morning hours of October 6th, 2014 in her neighborhood in Caruaru, Brazil. Residents in the area reported the screams she made as she was attacked but by the time military police arrived and found her, she had already succumbed to her injuries. She was found to have been stabbed at least nine times before having her throat brutally cut.
Macela’s uncle and grandmother, Cristiano Leite and Maria do Carmo, respectively, both stated that she was a user of marijuana and had spent the night drinking at her aunt’s house with her sister and some other friends when she left to go to the bar to pick up a bottle of rum.
Apparently she was the first recorded murder for October in the city of murder. Killer and motive remain unknown.
