On Friday 17th October, criminals raided a branch of the Banco do Brazil and blew up an ATM.
According to the Military Police, armed men entered the bank to install explosives in ATMs while two individuals took cover outside armed with a rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun, then after the explosion, the assailants fled.
After hearing about the crime, the police put up road blockages in the region to try and arrest those involved. A few hours later a suspicious group in a red Fiat Strada was located by police and they exchanged gunfire. The thieves escaped. Later that morning the body of a man was found inside a car near the site where the shooting occurred. The police suspect that the victim is one of the criminals who escaped and according to police, he was probably shot and left behind. Alongside the body was explosives, rifle ammunition and a 12 gauge shotgun.
