PC crashing under load after adding new RAM
I have an R5 2600 with stock cooler on a Gigabyte B450M DS3H mobo, and was able to get a stable OC of 4.05Ghz at ~1.1V. This was with 1 8gb stick of G.skill Aegis DDR4 at 3000Mhz, as well as an MSI GTX 1070 Armor OC 8GB overclocked to something like 2000Mhz.
Yesterday I bought a 2x8gb kit of Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 3000Mhz, and after installing them my PC crashed during a Cinebench run. Lowered CPU clock to 3.9, then 3.8 while maintaining voltage at 1.1V (this was the highest Vcore my motherboard would allow me to go), and PC would continue to crash during Cinebench. Lowering to 3.7Ghz, Cinebench run completed and I went on to torture test with Prime95, and my PC crashes again. Went down to 3.6Ghz and didn't make it more than 5 minutes into a torture test before I realized my CPU temps were at 87 and rising, so I stopped the test and just went back to base clocks. Running stable at base now, but what's keeping me from overclocking?
My theory is either 1 of 2 things, or a combination of both. Stock cooler (Wraith Stealth) isn't enough for this OC, and/or my motherboard can't supply enough voltage for my CPU (it could also be faulty RAM, but I really don't want to have to RMA this kit so I'm holding off on that being the cause). I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo arriving on Monday, and might switch my motherboard out for an MSI B450-A Pro next week, depending on what y'all say here.
