Singapore Airshow 2014: KHI to promote export variant of C-2

Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) is offering for export a version of its C-2 military transport aircraft to meet growing medium-airlift requirements in the Asia Pacific, Takumi Kobayashi, a KHI senior staff officer, has told IHS Jane's .

Speaking at the Singapore Airshow on 11 February, he said KHI has offered the platform - dubbed YCX - to several governments looking to procure medium-lift transport aircraft. KHI is in talks with the Japanese government in a bid to win approval to sell the aircraft in these international markets, he added.

Japan has long-standing rules that effectively ban the export of military equipment, although Kobayashi said that it is "possible to export dual-use equipment" such as the YCX.
