The Liverpool team's favourite designer
Liverpool FC - Imagine designing a graphic of your hero that was so good, the subject himself showed it to the world.
That's exactly what has happened to 24-year-old graphic designer Dian Qamajaya, whose LFC graphics have been retweeted by Lucas Leiva, Jose Enrique and Suso over recent months.
He's also a big hit among our Academy stars, getting recognition from Jordon Ibe, Ryan McLaughlin, Lloyd Jones and Kris Peterson.
Dian, from Yogyakarta in Indonesia, couldn't believe it the first time a player - Suso - retweeted one of his designs.
"I only started doing LFC graphics about a year ago," he said. "I felt honoured and excited when Suso retweeted me."
Such exposure has helped Dian gain a Twitter following of more than 4,000 and he has even been commissed to carry out work for the official LFC tour site - lfctour.com

Quote:
Dian Qamajaya, born 1989 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia is a very popular graphic designer amongst every Liverpool fan on Twitter; the platform he uses to share his work and talk with other passionate Liverpool fans. Dian has only been designing graphics for the football club for just over a year now but he is already a hit amongst Liverpool's academy stars, he has received recognition for his designs from Jordan Ibe, Lloyd Jones, Ryan McLaughlin and Kristoffer Peterson just to name a few.
This exposure has helped Dian grow his followers on Twitter; his account currently boasts close to 6,000 followers (as of 26/07/2013). I have recently been lucky enough to speak with the designer and he has agreed to answer some questions:
How did you come to be a fan of Liverpool FC?
"As I remember, when I was young, I was not very consistent. I liked many clubs from Italy and England, including Liverpool. I also love Robbie Fowler and [Steve] McManaman and then they made me eager to find out more about Liverpool. In the end, I started to like Liverpool even more and finally I really fell in love with Liverpool, and yes, only with Liverpool. Liverpool is one of the best clubs in the world, with a great history and with tremendous fans.
For me, Liverpool fans are the best, because they are like one big family. That's why I love Liverpool so much and proud because we’ve never and we’ll never walk alone."
You had only been doing designs for Liverpool for about one year and Suso retweeted one of your designs on Twitter. Can you explain what you were feeling when this happened?
"I felt honored, excited. Haha."
What is it like to have been described as 'the Liverpool team's favourite graphic designer'?
"Of course I am very happy, I didn't expect that. So many graphic designers out there, not least also create graphics about Liverpool. Then, when I elected as a team favorite designer, I felt shocked and lucky."
How does it feel to know that some of the players use your designs on their official Twitter accounts as avatars and/or headers?
"I am proud because some of Liverpool players use my services, they send me emails and ask me to do their graphics. Such as their Twitter headers and avatars. Sometimes, they also ask me to make graphic designs for their personal use, and obviously I don't ever publish it."
How did you come about being a graphic designer? Did it start as a hobby, or have you always wanted to create graphics?
"Initially, I really love to draw when I was a kid. In my real life, I also [get] involved to make some street art such as graffiti, pop art, etc. Then I learned a lot about the theory of graphic design when I was in college and run it as a hobby as well. And now I work as a graphic design for a few companies. I live with graphic design, and I enjoy it."
Of all the designs you have created, which one is your favourite?
"'The Pride of Merseyside' one. That was the first image that [was] used by the official LFC Facebook and Twitter." "And probably because of that picture. The club are interested to hire me. Hehe." Dian cheekily added.
How does it feel knowing that the flag you created (The Iron Lady) for the Indonesia vs LFC game will be presented by the Kop at Anfield next season
"I am very proud, feel thrilled to know it. The flag planned to hoist at the time when Indonesia XI v Liverpool FC game indeed. And we did it. My friends BIGREDS, Sammy Iroth had the brilliant idea to make this flag, and then I made the design. We are very proud, to give a little tribute to Anne Williams and give a little contribute to fight to find the justice for the 96, even though we live thousands miles away from Merseyside because she (Anne) is [and] they (the 96) are also our family."
