According to Huffington Post on Friday, a 12-year old girl in France wrote bad checks to satisfy her sweet tooth.

The 12-year old girl, Sud Ouest, stole a checkbook out of her neighbor's mailbox. She then used the stolen checks to buy candy and pastries.

According to a local newspaper, the girl wrote 21 bad checks for the candy and pastries, for a total of 2,500 euros, or about $3,000 US. She also used two more checks at a fast-food establishment.

According to police the 12-year old girl had stolen the checkbook from her neighbor's mailbox in March and used it to buy treats at a bakery in Mérignac, new Bordeaux. The girl had been running her con for several months before she was caught.

After the establishment recently attempted to deposit the checks, they bounced. Police apprehended 12-year old Sud Ouest this week and questioned her. She was later released to her parents after they agreed to pay back all she owed.
