KKK places flyers around Lexington



LEXINGTON, Mo. — An infamous group appears to be making a push for membership in some small Missouri towns.
Flyers for the Ku Klux Klan popped up in Clinton in late June and in Lexington this week.
“I don’t want them here,” Lexington Police Chief Don Rector said. “They throw these randomly. [Some flyers] even thrown on the Main Street sidewalk.”
Residents like Michelle Robinson started finding them early Monday morning.
“It makes me angry that people still actually live in that type of stupidity,” she said.

Frank Ancona claims to be an Imperial Wizard for the branch of the KKK on his Twitter profile. He lives about an hour south of St. Louis and spoke to FOX 4 by phone about the flyers.
“We’re Christian, patriotic Christian organization,” Ancona said. “We are looking out for the interest of America.”
He also defends the distribution of the flyers by the Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK.
“Organizations for gays or queers or whatever they want to call themselves, I’m not really sure, don’t really care, and then you’ve got organizations for blacks,” Ancona said. “The Hispanics have their organizations, so why can’t we have an organization for white people, look out for our interest?”
Chief Rector doesn’t buy it and is confident his town doesn’t either. Instead of interest, he said the flyers sparked fear.
“Quite a few were minorities,” Rector said. “Rightfully so, we’re upset, worried about their safety because of the history with the Ku Klux Klan.”
Resident Jimmy Mulligan is proud of the chief and his stance and has a message of his own for the Klan.
“They need to butt off and get a life,” he said. “Nobody wants to hear them, nobody wants them here. They’re a waste of everyone’s time.”
The chief said he is working closely with other law enforcement to make sure his citizens are safe. Rector said he is also in contact with the county prosecutor to see if any charges can be filed if police find the person who tossed the flyers.
