June 24, 2013 7:22 AM

MANILA – (UPDATE 3, 9:51 a.m.) More than 12 hours after the OV-10 Bronco Aircraft of the 15th Strike Wing of the Philippine Air Force went missing Sunday night, sea and aerial searches teams have still to find the two missing pilots, said. Col. Miguel Ernesto Okol, spokesman of the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
“Our search teams have already recovered parts of the plane but still no sight of the two pilots,” Okol said.
He refused to give the names of the two pilots in “accordance with regulations.”
In a report, Commander Armadn Balilo, spokesman of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), said their team was able to recover the “nose” of the plane.
The plane with two pilots on board took off the runway of the Western Command (Westcom) based in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan in tandem with another OV10 from the 15th Strike Wing for a routine flight at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
It failed to return at the expected arrival time of around 8 p.m.
Okol said the pilots were on a Night Flight Capability Training Mission.
The OV-10 Bronco Aircraft is from the 15th Strike Wing of the Philippine Air Force, according to PAF’s 570th Composite Tactical Wing.
Earlier in the day, AFP Western Command spokesperson Lieutenant Cherryl TIndonesia said two OV-10 aircraft conducted a special training flight Sunday. They were expected to return by 8 in the evening, but only one aircraft returned. There was no takeoff time indicated but the tower lost contact at around 7:35 p.m.
This prompted the Naval Forces West and the Philippine Coast Guard to conduct search and rescue operations for the missing aircraft and its two pilots, Lieutenant General Rustico Guerrero said.
"Lahat ng barko natin naka-deploy na (All our ships have been deployed) to search the area, and we are hoping to recover the pilots today," said Guererro.
Guerrero also appealed to all the local residents in nearby coastal areas to report any sightings of the aircraft or its pilots.
A source from the 570th Composite Tactical Wing of the PAF in Palawan said that the missing aircraft with tail number 630 was last monitored at around 7:40 p.m. Sunday some seven nautical miles east of Puerto Princesa.
