Learners’ Essays First Step Project

During the two-week midterm break, collect as many essays as possible written by your students, your colleagues, or students of your colleagues who are learners of English/non-native speakers of English. Try your best in persuading them to write the essay themselves, not copying other writers’ words. Ask them to write the essay in a Microsoft Word document and send it as an attachment to your email address or your colleague’s email address.

The more essays the better, so please try to make a contribution to the class’ endeavor. Should you be unable to collect such essays, we will rely on what your classmates manage to collect.

Complete the instructions below by adding the email address and the date, then print and photocopy the instructions to distribute to the prospective writers.


Instructions:

Write in English about just one of the following three topics:

1. Jakarta ten years from now.

2. Advantages and disadvantages of studying alone and studying with classmates.

3. Two different prices for the same Premium fuel: positive and negative consequences.

4. Desirable and undesirable characteristics of Indonesian movies and Hollywood movies.

Consult any dictionaries if you wish to, but please do the writing yourself, not copy-pasting from sources written by other people. Write down first your name, the title you have selected from the four options given above, and continue with at least 300 words telling the readers about what you have in mind concerning the chosen topic.

Send your Microsoft Word document as an email attachment to ……………………………… not later than …… May 2013.
