Pledis Entertainment collaborated with Fantagio Entertainment, an acting agency, for Hello Venus' showcase in April. According to reports from both agencies, the group had already been preparing for their first single, a dance song from a famous composer. Fantagio revealed, "They’ve trained for about a year and a half. Four members are from Fantagio and three are from Pledis, and after their debut, Fantagio will be managing the acting portions of their promotion while Pledis will be taking over variety."
Yoo Ara and Yoonjo were trainees, called 'Pre-School Girls', of sister group After School, with the former two featuring on their first album Virgin. Yoo Ara and Lime was featured in the song "Love Letter" and Ara appeared in the music videoHappy Pledis - 'Love Letter'. Yoonjo was featured in After School's song "Dream" for their album Virgin[3] All three girls were expected to join After School at some point. Yoo Ara, along with fellow Pledis trainee Kyungmin, were the final two candidates to become After School's ninth member, however, current After School member E-Young was chosen instead. Lime was also in the pre-debut line-up of a girl group called Viva Girls under Medialine Entertainment; consisting of several members including Nine Muses member Kyungri. However, the group disbanded and each girl left the company.
Lime was a backup dancer for Chaeyeon. She was also a rapper featured in Lee Jung's '들어봐'(Look At Me)[4] and Honey Family's 역전의 드라마 (Reversal of Drama)[5] under the name Haley.
Alice debuted on June 13, 2010 as a solo singer with the stage name "Ora" and released a music video of her debut single titled "Naughty Face" on June 15, 2010.
Nara and Yooyoung had made cameo appearance as stewardess in a drama 'Take Care Of Us Captain'.

Hello Venus first became known under the name Venus, after Han Sungsoo updated his Twitter biography with the name. It was first rumoured to be an After School sub-unit, but was later updated under the name "helLOVEnus", and confirmed to be a brand new group. On April 17, 2012, Hello Venus was officially announced with a teaser image, along with the opening of an official website, Facebook, Twitter, Daum Café and YouTube channel. The final group had six members, containing three members from Pledis: Yoo Ara, Yoonjo and Lime, and three members from Fantagio: Alice, Nara and Yooyoung.
On May 9, 2012, Hello Venus debuted their mini-album 'Venus'. 'Venus' features four track in all, with "Venus" serving as the promotional track.

On November 19, Pledis Entertainment said Hello Venus is to make a comeback mid-December as a full six-member group.[10] On December 16, they made their comeback on Inkigayo with their 2nd mini album "What Are You Doing Today?".

On January 27, Hello Venus finished promoting 'What Are You Doing Today?' and On January 30 they started promoting follow up song, 'Romantic Love'.
On February 26 , 9 months after their debut they hold their first fanmeeting. They invited 200 fans for the event which lasted 2 and a half hours. Their fanmeeting tickets had been sold out completely as soon as they went on sale, showing that they were one of the power rookies of 2012. They performed various songs including “Venus“, “Like a Wave“, and ”What Are You Doing Today?“. Yoonjo finally got to perform “Venus” and “Like a Wave” with the other members for the very first time.
On March 24, it was anounced that Yooyoung will play Jang Goeun on the drama "Wonderful Mama". Her character Jang Goeun is very attached to her family. Her cutesy and unique lines will surely capture the viewers’ attention. She is hardly a drama queen but is rather outgoing and adaptive to her surroundings. Yooyoung’s agency Fantagio stated, “Hello Venus’ maknae Yooyoung is very popular for her cute and lovely personality within the group. She will be promoting under her actual name ‘Lee Yooyoung” for ‘Wonderful Mama.’ She is preparing very hard even at this moment so please anticipate her activities to come.”

I took a picture while I was doing something, you people know what that is~? hah. um...I changed my hair color. and you would probably know, what I meant for." Eventually, it was confirmed on April 17, 2013 that Hello Venus will be making a comeback with their 3rd mini album titled "Would you stay for tea?" on May 2. The group released a teaser photo the same day and the concept is twins. It also has been stated that the producing team for their 3rd mini is the same team that produced labelmates Orange Caramel's Lipstick and Ailee's Heaven.
On April 17, the group released teaser photos for their comeback. The concept for this release was twins, as each member was paired with another member wearing the same clothes while promoting the mini to make it look like they were twins. It was later announced that the mini album title was "Would You Stay for Tea?" Pledis Entertainment stated, “Fans will not only see the twin concept through their album jacket, but also through their performances on stage. Please anticipate the more mature Hello Venus.”
On April 25, the music video teaser for the title track released via Hello Venus' official YouTube channel. The music video and mini album were released on May 2. Their new title track is composed by the producing duo Iggy and Yongbae, who are also behind the hit songs Orange Caramel‘s “Lipstick“, Ailee‘s “Heaven“, and more, promising that a fun new song is in store. The song is a pop dance track with a sampling of the classic tune “Variation on the Kanon“. The mini album has four songs. One of them, Again, is a song sung completely by member Yoo Ara. They held their comeback stage on the music show M! Coundown! and continued on Music Core and Inkigayo.
On May 2, it was also announced that they will hold their first solo concert at Sogang University’s Mary Hall on June 22nd. Their agency stated, “Thanks to the love and support from fans, Hello Venus was able to grow this much. Please look forward to not only their new single ‘Would You Stay for Tea?’ but also their first solo concert.” Hello Venus' first solo concert sold out all the tickets in only one minute on June 5, 2013. Because their solo concert sold out in such a short time, another date for first concert was added to be set for June 23, 2013.
Hello Venus' 3rd Mini-Album debuted at #6 on Gaon Chart's national physical albums ranking. The mini album sold about eight thousand copies for the month of May.
