Code Name: Geronimo is an action film that will focus on the U.S. Navy SEAL team that killed Osama Bin Laden at his hideout in Pakistan in 2011. The movie will follow the members of SEAL Team 6 through their training for the mission and culminate with the daring nighttime raid on the Bin Laden compound.
Initially the SEALs were unaware that their target was the most wanted man in the world himself. When it’s finally revealed to the team that Bin Laden is the target, the film shows the intense emotions felt by the SEAL team as they realize that they personally have the chance to eliminate the most reviled enemy of the United States and enact revenge for the 911 attacks.
The film is being directed by John Stockwell (Turistas, Blue Crush, Crazy/Beautiful) and is based on a screenplay written by newcomer Kendall Lampkin.
The film will star William Fichtner (Prison Break, The Dark Knight, Black Hawk Down) Cam Gigandet (Twilight, Priest), Anson Mount (AMC’s Hell on Wheels), Freddy Rodriguez (HBO’s Six Feet Under) and rapper-turned-actor Xzibit. Kathleen Robinson (Beverly Hills 90210) and Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie) will also co-star as CIA operatives. Filmed in New Mexico, Code Name Geronimo will be released in Brazil on September 28 with the U.S. release date still yet to be announced although it’s expected to be sometime in October.
