CHINESE GOVERNMENT ERECTS FLOCKS OF FAKE SHEEP TO HIDE IMPACT OF MINING INDUSTRY

CHINA's government has attempted to offset the environmental impact of the country's growing industrialisation by erecting large flocks of fake sheep.

After huge tracts of animal pasture were handed over to mining companies within Inner Mongolia, official's stumbled upon the bizarre method to preserve the region's agricultural past.




From afar, the Horgin grassland continues to represent the centuries-old scene of farm animals grazing happily in fields.

But closer inspection reveals that the animals are in fact merely sculptures made by local artists.

"We have to develop the economy but we want to do everything we can to preserve the beauty of the land," said a government spokesman.
